About ME

Custom Automotive Performance Products:
Welcome. Please browse our site to view custom aftermarket parts available for today's vehicles. CEM currently specializes in custom bushings, underdrive pulleys, phenolic spacers, and engine mounts; but we are always expanding and researching new products. CEM can also fabricate other items, whether automotive or not. To get a quotation on a one-off or short run piece, or if there are any questions, feel free to contact us. Click to add Cheetah as myspace friend   CEM Phenolic spacers are cut from a single piece of Garolite by CNC water-jetting. Garolite is a great heat insulator, and these insulating properties will keep the plenum and throttle body cooler; as it will not absorb as much heat via conduction from the engine. This results in a cooler air-intake temperature, which creates a denser charge that provides more horsepower. The cooler plenum and throttle body will also help keep the power level stay more consistent. Most cars feel slightly sluggish on very hot days, or after a time of stop-and-go driving. This is in part because of the intake air temperature rising. These spacers will help stop this power loss. IN certain applications, these spacers also add volume to your plenum, or smooth out the path to the cylinders, which will help increase torque throughout the powerband. Spacers are great bang-for-the-buck, proven performance item, especially on an already modified vehicle; while not having any negative side effects like lower gas mileage. Many spacers sold are a fiber phenolic. But all of CEM spacers are made from Garolite, which has equivalent insulation properties to normal Phenolic, but is more moisture resistant. This is preferred, since an engine bay can have many different climates, with varying humidity's. Many vehicles also run EGR and PCV vapors back through the intake, and Garolite stands up to this harsh environment; as it is also more chemically resistant. In addition, with a wet nitrous kit, extra injectors, or a water injection kit, there may be considerable amount of fluid in the intake. CEM Delrin (Acetal) motor and transmission mounts are each machined from a solid block, and have either Stainless Steel or Aluminum bushings fit into the mounts to act as a point of contact for the connecting bolts. Delrin is an extremely strong and stiff plastic. It is commonly used in place of metal in applications where metal can not be used (magnetic, corrosion, or conducting / insulating reasons). These are much stiffer than polyurethane mounts, and it will not give or wear out. These mounts should never need to be replaced, unlike the stock units which are usually considered a wear item. These will give the same effect as solid metal mounts, without the intense vibration which metal transmits. These mounts stop the jumping or twisting of the motor under the hood. This movement is caused by the rotating mass of the crankshaft and transmission components. With stock mounts, the engine will twist itself in the engine bay when the throttle is opened, or during high-speed shifts. Over time, this force will destroy the stock rubber mounts. When this happens, the rubber may split or rip, allowing the engine to potentially move inches back and forth. This can destroy CV joints, other mounts, and create even worse wheel-hop. With these mounts, shifts will be much crisper. There should not be any noticeable added vibration on a car with any suspension modifications, and many times the mounts will smooth the vehicle vibrations by stopping excess movement caused from soft factory mounts. While pressing the gas pedal, a vehicle is much more responsive; as the motor does not lose as much torque twisting into the mounts. At a price usually less than that of inferior stock mounts, these are not only a great performance item, but a bargain for each application. CEM Light-weight Underdrive Pulleys are a modification that provides the best of both worlds: more power and better gas mileage. Underdrive pulleys achieve both of these goals with a two-fold approach. Stock accessory pulleys are usually made of heavy, cast steel. They are produced to be made at the cheapest possible price. These steel pulleys require a significant percentage of an engines power to rotate them. Using lighter Aluminum alloys, along with detailed machining processes, the pulley can be made as light as possible; requiring less power to rotate it. This recovered power is an increase easily seen on a dyno and felt during everyday driving. Also, these pulleys are made with a smaller diameter than the stock pulley. This rotates the belt driven accessories at a slightly slower pace (around 10-13% slower). Since each accessory takes power to turn, hp and torque are regained through the "underdriving" process also. Typical hp increase are around 5%. So for a 200hp engine, an increase of 10hp is easily possible. CEM brake upgrade sets are designed to allow larger stock brakes sets to be used on various vehicles. Each configuration contains different pieces and materials, yet each has the same idea: to bring one's vehicle to a complete stop in a shorter distance. Larger brakes will also fade less during spirited driving. Finally, they will look better with custom rims, by filling up the larger inner rim area. Brake upgrades may contain adapters to adapt caliper brackets to bolt-on to stock hubs, and rotor concentric rings for those cases in which the new rotor has a larger inner diameter than the outer seat of the hub. This takes the stress off of the lug studs, by allowing the rotor to center itself on the hub, and not create side-load stresses on the studs. The material of these rings is a customer option, based on cost and look.
CEM offers various bushings and sleeves for items such as shifter cables, clutch pedals, and steering rack mounts. Available in various metals, plastics, or any other material needed to suit the needs of the application, these are machined from solid pieces, and reduce movement over the stock worn or sloppy rubber bushings. These solid bushings will not wear out, and many times can save money in those cases where the stock bushings are not sold individually; only as part of an expensive assembly. CEM is currently in the development stage for my motorcycle products, including parts for the Yamaha V-Max series bikes. Extended driveshafts, solid mounts, custom CNC-designed rotors, and other various items will soon be available. CEM motorcycle products will be made with the same research, quality, and development that is put into each of our automotive items. We are very excited about this emerging market, and opportunity to be a part of it. Since this is an expanding market for us, please contact us with any items or requests for future product lines. We are looking for testers and fitters of prototype parts; as we feel that more quality, yet affordable products in the market will be beneficial to riders and CEM alike. CEM offers various services such as pressing of parts in and out of brackets, sand-blasting and painting, and basic machine shop services. CEM can also quote any job, large or small. We can design parts from simple sketches, or create CNC-made parts from 2D or 3D CAD files.
