I. Michele Yvette Abbate
A. My Life
1. I was born March 9th, 1988 in Las Vegas, Nevada. My father is Italian and my mother is Irish. I was born with a hole in my heart and had open-heart surgery when I was three years old. I have lived here in Las Vegas all my life and have attended private school until I recently became a student at UNLV. I just recently took an interest in modeling. I plan to become a successful mechanical engineer, and to excel in my racing career. I am extremely outgoing and up for just about anything. I love to travel and explore new things. I take passion in what I do and always strive to do my best.
II. Interests and Abilities
A. Cars/Auto Racing
1. I have grown up surrounded by a racing atmosphere. My brother has been a world champion kart racer and also took part in the first Red Bull F1 Driver’s Search. I idolize him and hope to achieve similar titles that he has in his racing career.
2. I consistently race Autocross in the Las Vegas Region Sports Car Club of America (LVRSCCA). I finished 1st in the DSP Ladies Division, and 2nd in overall Ladies PAX points for 2006, which was my first season. I plan to continue racing and fund it through my modeling until I receive some financial sponsorships. In March of 2007 I raced in my first National event in a car that was offered to me by a fellow member of the SCCA. I placed 3rd out of 4 national championship winning competitors.
B. Boating/Watersports
1. My parents have owned our 88’ Scarab boat since before I was born. My dad has done an extreme amount of motor work on it and it currently has 785 horsepower while being powered by a supercharger and a 454 Chevy big block engine. We have been going out to the lake every Sunday of the summer since I can remember. We also have 3 Seadoos which we enjoy kneeboarding, wakeboarding, and skiing behind.
C. Paintball
1. My boyfriend has been playing paintball for 4 years and as soon as we met in May he took me to play. I was hooked the second I started playing. After only two months of playing I tried out for the local team and made it. No other girl was at try outs and had ever been on the roster. I continue to play and hope to play in my first tournament in April of 2007.
D. Rollerskating/Skateboarding
1. I started skating in elementary school. I currently started back up and trying to learn how to have some fun at the skate park and learn some new tricks. But mostly, it’s best when I’m trying to get to class on time.
E. Basketball/Track
1. I have been playing basketball since 1996. I played on a recreational team in 4th grade and continued all through high school. In middle school my team was the undefeated champions of the year. I played Junior Varsity 3 years of High School and tried out for Varsity my senior year but did not make it due to my low blood pressure condition.
F. Photography
I took an interest in photography in high school when I enrolled in a black and white photo class along with a digital photo class. I learned many new things and have always taken an interest in taking pictures of cars and sports. I prefer film over digital and I use my father’s Nikon F model from the 1970’s. I was awarded best student of the year in my black and white class, and I continue to take pictures and display them under the name of “Abbate Photography”.
G. Music
My favorite type of music is Ska. I’m Less Than Jake’s biggest fan, I even have “LTJ” on my license plate. I have met them numerous times. I am currently learning how to play the guitar. Also I was awarded the “Most likely to become a rock star award” in high school. I promote Less Than Jake every chance I get they are very inspiring and amazing people.
H. Family and Friends
1. When I’m not out doing some sort of activity I really enjoy just spending time with my family and friends. They are the most important people in my life and I would never trade them for the world. One thing I know I’ll always have is them, and that’s all I’ll ever need.
III. Basically, I am a hard working student who takes pride in my work, hobbies, friends, and interests. I want to make the best of my life and live it to the fullest. Of course ideally, I would love to be a professional race car driver.
